Responsibility
« What does responsibility mean to me? Two things, actually. First of all, it means standing behind the decisions that we make on a project and shouldering the economic, technical, legal and other consequences. I’ve only been working for BNP Paris Real Estate for a year and a half. But I really felt that the notion of responsibility was at the core of everything we did, right from the start. The first project I was put in charge of was for a leading international corporation and was worth several hundred million euros. My managers put me in the driver’s seat and expected me to assume responsibility straight away. I learned a lot from that: I became autonomous very fast. Then in another, broader, sense, we are also answerable to society and have an educational role to play with our customers as regards sustainable development. That’s not always easy, especially when we have to try to convince them that 19°C is warm enough for their offices in winter! You have to strike a balance between that educational dimension and the service that they are entitled to expect. »
